A Story of a Story-Teller

This workshop will introduce the living traditions of Patachitras to children through a slide and video presentation. After the slide presentation, children will be encouraged to paint scrolls about events from their daily lives. After the painting sessions, each group will tell their stories explaining the visual aspects in the same way that the patuas perform through scrolls, evoking aural, visual and performative modes.

Anupam Singh is an artist and educator interested in cultural sustainability. He has introduced art to children and teachers from public schools and district council schools, professionals, senior citizens and students of visual arts, social work, design, and science streams through workshops and talks. He has contributed as guest faculty in various institutions including the Industrial Design Centre – IIT Bombay and NIFT, among others
