November 2 to 6, 1996 | 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm
Little Theatre, National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai
This workshop which will be conducted by well-known calligrapher Achyut Palav, aims at enlarging one’s personal vision of calligraphy from merely `beautiful handwriting’ to an art form and discussing the versatility and scope of this ancient art in India today. Undoubtedly, calligraphy has tremendous potential to penetrate various design oriented professions like Advertising, Interior Decoration and Fashion.
Shantaram Pawar (Advertising), Geeta Castelino (Principal Cepz Fashion Institute), Sunil Mahadik (Managing Director, Flagship Advertising) and Vijay Munshi (Architect and Interior Decorator) have been invited to talk about their experiences with calligraphers over the years.
In addition to this there will be a flexible mix of practical work, lectures, group discussions, question-answer sessions and slide and video presentations. The participants will be senior level students from selected art schools and colleges and upcoming, talented artists from advertising agencies. An exhibition will be put in the Tata Theatre Foyer at the time of the workshop.
