Farcical Fun is a week-long theatre workshop for children who live with the disparity evident in Mumbai: lack of water, sanitation, education, among others. The facilitator will use farce as a medium to allow these issues to be addressed. In theatre, a farce is a comedy that aims at engaging with performers and audience through situations that are highly exaggerated, overstated, and thus unlikely. Farce is also characterized by the use of deliberate absurdity or nonsense, and broadly stylized performances.
Ishan Benegal is one of the directors at the G5A Foundation for Contemporary Culture, Mumbai, and curates its programming in theatre and performance.
