[En]counters: The Fluid City | Flowing Freedom

January 8, 2011 | 4.30 pm – 6.30 pm
Sewri Fort, Mumbai
As part of the public art project, [En]counters: The Fluid City, Pradeep Mishra’s ‘Flowing Freedom’ recuperated a lost harmony between human intervention and nature as he hoisted a series of animal-embroidered flags on the iconic Sewri Fort that overlooks a rich mangrove forest attracting exotic species of migratory birds. Laxmikant Deshpande of the Environment Management Centre (EMC) conducted a walk through the mangroves at the Sewri bay and fort where he discussed the issue of mangrove ecosystems and coastal bio-diversity. This was followed by paintings by the children who responded to the local site and installed artworks.
EMC Environmental Management Centre LLP (EMC) is based in Mumbai and its mission is to practice sustainability that could thus be viewed as proactive, visionary and influencing environmental consultancy.
