Intuitive Expressions

Ratan Parimoo, the seventy-one-year-old painter and art historian from Baroda, gives a presentation of his works over the last fifty years. The first part of the program consists of a short film (27 minutes) shot in Jehangir Art Gallery and Cymroza Art Gallery in 1999, which surveys Parimoo’s paintings from 1956 to 1999. Works are shown in several segments with explanatory commentary together with his own comments on his pre-occupations during the early phase (1955-1960), the abstract phase (1960-1970), the figurative and surrealistic phase since then. This will be followed by a power-point presentation, showcasing his new paintings after his eye-operation, which will be showcased in a solo show at the Jehangir Art Gallery from January 16-22, 2008.
