Internationally known American metal sculptor, Suzanne Benton has travelled round the world to share her art and absorb the arts of many countries with mask and ritual traditions. Countries such as Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Nepal, India, Israel, Greece, Egypt, Nigeria, England and many others have been of particular interest to her.
After a period of absorption, she creates a series of sculptured metal masks relating to different traditions and cultures. The masks are then used in guided talks with students, artistes and art lovers. She has exhibited her works in several countries at prestigious venues in addition to numerous lectures, workshops and teaching assignments the world over. She has also written extensively on masks and sculpture. Suzanne Benton is presently visiting India as a Fulbright Scholar. The lecture will be illustrated with slides as well as with live demonstration of mask-making.
