This workshop will introduce mathematics without numbers and equations. Through origami, abstract concepts will be transformed into tactile shapes which are filled with beauty and colour. Through origami constructions, various geometric operations will be explored and performed by folding a piece of paper, using the raw edges and points of the paper, as well as any subsequent crease lines and points created while folding. Through this workshop the teachers will receive training and be encouraged to apply this activity-based teaching methodology in their classrooms.
Ravindra Keskar is a maths enthusiast, researcher and fellow at the Department of Science and Technology (Govt. Of India), and is interested in promoting mathematics through the principles of origami. He has conducted various workshops for diverse groups including children, teachers and professors providing alternative learning and teaching skills through innovative methods.
