The work of Charles Correa covers a wide range of projects including the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial at the Sabarmati Ashram, the Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, the Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur, the State Assembly of Madhya Pradesh as well as townships in Karnataka and Maharashtra. He has taught at several universities in India and abroad including Harvard and MIT. He was Nehru Professor at Cambridge University and is the author of “New Landscape” which deals with urban issues in the Third World. In 1985, he was appointed Chairman of the National Commission on urbanisation to prepare a report on urban policies for the Government of India. He is the recipient of several awards and honours including the Padma Shri.
