The program will include the screening of two video films made by the artist, N. Pushpamala. The 11 minute video, ‘Rashtriya Kheer and Desi Salad’ was created by using text found in her mother’s and mother-in-law’s recipe books to look at the modern family and the nation, while ‘The Paris Autumn,’ a 35 minute film made out of still photographs shot in Paris, is about the violent history and present of the iconic city of European civilisation. The panel will explore the notions of conceptual photography, video, performance, humour and fiction, along with the political and social nuances that the artist embeds in her work.
