The Body as a Palace: The Site of Consciousness
Speaker: Peter Bevan
April 12, 1996 | 6.30 pm
Little Theatre, National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai
Peter Bevan’s visit has been organised under the aegis of the link programme between the Glasgow School of Art and the M.S. University, Baroda, sponsored by the British Deputy High Commission, British Council Division and NCPA’s Jindal Arts Creative Interaction Centre.
Peter Bevan is a sculptor and teacher at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. The presentation will be about his work and the sculpture of other figurative artists. His work propagates the belief that much of the sculpture of the body is hollow, making references to forms of architecture and functional objects. These references allow the body to be perceived as a `place’ within which conscious thought and ideas are generated and may be recognised by the viewers.
