A painter who has exhibited widely, Timothy Hyman from England is equally well-known for his writings and lectures on art. A visiting professor at Baroda, he has also published several articles on contemporary Indian painting.
In the first lecture he will discuss Bonnard, who in his treatment of space is considered perhaps the most radical of all twentieth century painters. Timothy Hyman will show how this explicitly subjective space registers movement of visionary integration in which both the world and the self are simultaneously apprehended.
In the second more polemical lecture, Timothy Hyman will survey the battlegrounds of contemporary art and put forward a new perspective on painting at the turn of the millennium.
