This year Dnyaneshwar Nadkarni celebrates 50 years as an art critic. He started in 1945 with the weekly Forum and went on to contribute art reviews and articles to The Times of India, The Free Press Journal, The Financial Express, The Independent and other papers. He has been visiting art galleries and museums in Europe regularly since 1951 and has written extensively in Marathi about developments and personalities in the art world of the West. He has written books/monographs on Gaitonde, Picasso and Husain, for the last of which he recently received a Maharashtra Government award.
