1. Art of the Early Italy Renaissance (Col. 30 min)
In this programme, you will trace the origins of the Renaissance through the lovely and compelling artworks of 14th and 15th century Italy housed in the Hermitage Museum. It was the age of the powerful Medici family, the “Golden Age” of Florence and the innovative painting of artists like Fra Angelico, Simone Martini, and Fra Filippo Lippi.
2. Da Vinci, Raphael, and the High Italian Renaissance (Col. 30 min)
Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and a glittering array of Venetian painters produced works of miraculous originality and power. The collection of these works in the Hermitage is among the finest in the world.
3. Art of the Netherlands: 15th and 16th Century (Col. 30 min)
This collection from the Hermitage Museum will trace the emergence of realism in the Netherlands. The elegant, aristocratic “International Style” based on Gothic forms gave way to a powerful, hard-edged realism filled with dramatic light and brilliant colour.
